Shot from the hip

I wandered around Garema Place in Canberra one November 2006 lunchtime with my little pocket camera shooting randomly from the hip and seeing what I ended up with. I like the spontaneity of this shot. A real candid shot.

Made in Australia

I got on the bus one morning in Canberra in November 2006 to go to work and noticed that the young woman sitting in the seat in front of me appeared to have something tattooed below her neck. Took a while to see it as her hair was in the way but fortunately she was flicking it every so often. I couldn't believe what I was reading. It was a real tattoo, not a stick on one. I got my little pocket camera out and recorded it for posterity.

This is Grace from Shanghai posing atop Gibraltar Rocks, Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve outside Canberra, in September 2006 . A very steep climb to the top but well worth it for the views are spectacular.

Curiosity

This is one of my all-time favourite photos. I love it. The expression on the face of the schoolgirl turning around to have a look really makes it. The photo was taken at the Museum at Ayutthaya in Thailand in August 2006. There was a large group of schoolchildren who were fascinated by me. I eventually shooed them off but we saw them again later on all lined up to go into another building and this was when I took this picture.
